Escaping the cold and grey winter in Switzerland, we booked a kite vacation between Christmas and New Year near Mombasa (Kenia). Landing on December 24, we celebrated x-mas under palm trees on the beach. Some light wind during the first week was rather unusual for the otherwise (apparently between December and March) consistent trade winds around this time of the year. The second week was amazing nice wind though and we enjoyed many hours on the water. The hotel Pine Wood Village is super nice. The beach is huge and empty, only a few kiters on the water – which is probably 30 degree Celsius. The air also around 30, but very humid. The kite station is pretty small, so we were glad having brought our own equipment.
